Returning from summer holidays with a fresh crop of films, Black Nights Film Festival programmers are prepping two international competition programmes in sync with this year’s upgraded industry events. Continuing in the festival’s ambition to discover and showcase films from diverse regions, the main International Competition sets out to offer a meticulously curated programme with a global reach, connecting Eastern Europe with both Americas and Asia.
Coming of age with our 19th edition, the festival is looking to start giving back to the filmmaking community – so we have added the new Tridens First Feature Competition which will present fresh talent from all over the world. The participants of the competition will be specially fostered at the Industry@Tallinn event with mentoring.
The new Sales Agents and Distributors Meeting Point (further details to be announced) will also showcase competition films to help them find partners for sales and distribution.
Also, after a successful first year, Industry@Tallinn will continue the European Genre Forum, a talent lab for genre film directors, producers, SFX, VFX specialists and music writers.
In addition, the festival is expanding the Works in Progress structure, adding a whole new section with about 15 works from around the world to the existing successful showcase run by the Baltic Event co-production market. This ties in with the First Features Competition programme, as the directors and producers of the films there receive preferential treatment in the selection process with their next projects.
